Across industries, geographies and the gender divide, there is an epidemic that is affecting the workplace and world! Studies after studies show alarming stats: 50-60% of workers are burning out!
I love the section listing possible symptoms of burnout.
Burnout begins much earlier than many think. But, most PEOPLE manager do not know anything about burnout -- and how it harms their business (if would they would be more open to that perspective than the health issues of the affected person)
Burnout is a consequence of people mismanagement, not an individual failure. But, orgs tend to treat you like failures if you open up.
This article is so powerful and deeply resonated with me. Burnout is real, and your reminder that ‘Me Time’ isn’t selfish but essential really hits home. If we don’t design our own lives, someone else will do it for us—often at the cost of our well-being. Thank you for sharing your journey and these invaluable insights, Noemi! I look forward to reading more!
Personally I wouldn't work for a company that demand 60 hours per week. Not even for Google. This is why working in Europe is better than in the US. We work only 40 hours max per week or less. In my company we are 100% working for home, people can choose whether they want to stay home or go to work. We are result oriented. Counting working hours is outdated and it's an Illusion of Productivity.
My daughter works as a teller. We got 7 inches dumped on us last night. She called in sick today because I didn’t raise idiots. But one of the other tellers couldn’t get out of her own driveway so she called in and the manager told one of the other teller managers she had to drive and pick her up! Ummm that’s not in the job description sir. I would have had words. Who’s going to the bank in 7 inches of snow? They should have closed the office.
These people with this mindset are obsessed with work. They are unhealthy and push their unhealthy ideas onto everyone else.

A Case of Me What? Why?
Philip Quigley 19/03/2025
A case of me
Who just wants
To be
And Fly like a bird
And listen to
The ocean wave line
Oh, if it were mine
Or thine
But it belongs
To the Devine
A case of me
Who just wants
To be
With Privacy and
security
in my DNA
which is why
we are built
To fly
From
end-to-end
encryption
into our app
With end-to-end
encrypted
messages
photos
videos
voice messages
documents
status updates
and calls that
are secured from
falling into the
wrong hands
But is this a
Lie
Until we die
A case of me
Who just wants
To be
And Fly
A case of me
Who just wants
To be
A soul so free,
yet bound by time,
drifting high,
but seeking signs.
The wind may call,
the stars may shine,
but all returns
In the hands of the divine.
Thanks Sikieng! I am a big fan of your articles also! 🎈❤️

Europe has many advantages in terms of work conditions, healthcare, childcare, food quality…
